NEHAWU KZN Opens A Case Of Fraud And Corruption Against The Principal Of Elangeni TVET College
Friday August 04, 2023
The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in KwaZulu-Natal has opened a case of fraud and corruption against the Principal of Elangeni TVET College. The case was opened on the 02nd August 2023 at the Pinetown Police Station.
This follows an investigation report issued by the Public Service Commission [PSC] on the malfeasance at Elangeni TVET College which found against the Principal on the allegations pertaining to the awarding of a contract and payments made to Imoto Media.
The union had laid a complaint with PSC on the irregular supply chain management [SCM] processes at the college following the awarding of Imoto Media tender. This was in line with our Public Service Campaign, which is geared towards the eradication of rampant corruption and maladministration. As NEHAWU, we are going to continue to be at the forefront in exposing unethical and roguish conducts, and ensure that the college progressively adheres to proper policies and laws of the country.
We reiterate our call for the Minister of Higher Education to not only take action against the Principal but to also release the PSC report publicly. We are once again appealing to the Principal’s communist conscience to do an honourable thing and resign. We are also calling for a thorough and in-depth forensic investigation that will delve deeply into the financial affairs of the college.
We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all malfeasance that has come to characterise the college are completely eradicated and that those who have broken the law are brought to book regardless of their political standing and proximity. In the coming weeks the union will be marching to the college demanding for the immediate removal of the Principal.
